During maintenance that affects the portals, such as the maintenance scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 22, remember you can directly access Canvas and some other services that are provided through the portals.

⁠Ralphie’s List is your only university-affiliated resource for housing listings that are curated for students. The Ralphie’s List database lists rentals in the area, has a searchable roommate database and allows students to list sublets for free.

The Basic Needs Center works in partnership with Student Support and Case Management to help students navigate and access essential resources. The Basic Needs Center can connect students to on- and off-campus food resources, emergency housing resources and additional wellness services that support their unique needs.

Instructors have received ongoing email communications requesting book and course materials information for spring 2024 courses. As a reminder, campus policy states that departments are required to identify what books and other course materials are required (or if a course will have no required materials or courses that will utilize open education resources (OER) for their classes by the day of registration.

Getting accurate information from instructors is critical to the success of the CU Book Access program, which provides degree-seeking undergraduate students access to their required course materials by the first day of class for a flat rate each semester and also ensures the timely distribution of course materials for graduate students.

Changes to grade-change workflow, the process for instructors to change submitted grades for students on their grade rosters, are anticipated Thursday, Oct. 19.

The ⁠CU Student Government fall 2023 elections will be kicking off on Monday, Nov. 5. If you would like to run for a representative at large position, start by getting 50 signatures on a petition packet. Email the CUSG parliamentarian at ⁠cusg.parliamentarian@colorado.edu to receive your packet.

A petition packet is a Google Form you use to collect the 50 signatures you need to be listed on the ballot. Once completed, this document allows you to run for rep at large. When you get someone to “sign” your petition packet, they should include their student ID number, CU email and name. CUSG uses this information to determine that signatories are fee-paying students, as only fee-paying students can sign petition packets and vote in CUSG elections.

Completed petition packets, with all 50 signatures, are due on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the mandatory candidates’ meeting, which will be held in UMC 425.

Join us Oct. 16–20 as we celebrate National Transfer Student Week at CU Boulder. This week will be filled with events designed specifically for transfer students that will allow you to meet other transfer buffs, experience campus and have fun! Check out events open to all transfer students.

Registration opens Oct. 30 for Camp Shakespeare (ages 9–18) and Shakespeare's Sprites (ages 6–9). Each age group will work together to rehearse, stage and perform an abridged Shakespeare play (or scenes) from Colorado Shakespeare Festival’s summer season.

This camp is a great way to instill a love of language and theater in your children! (Titles TBA––we can’t spill the beans before the Shakespeare Festival season announcement!)

The Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) Legislative Assembly is now accepting applications for senators for the College of Engineering, College of Music, Colorado Law and the School of Education.

The CU Alternative Breaks program sends teams of college students to engage in meaningful service during their breaks from school. This winter (Jan. 8-12), travel to Florida to support recovery efforts.

Participants will provide direct relief to individuals and families who have been displaced by extreme weather events. They will also provide support to local community organizations such as food banks, free clothing outlets and community-based organizations struggling to meet the increased needs of families and elderly impacted by the storm.
