2013 Apprenticeship Opportunity - Budget & Fiscal Planning

The University of Colorado Boulder is a world leader in higher education and has an annual operating budget in excess of $1 billion, over 29,000 enrolled students, and approximately 6,800 employees.  The Budget & Fiscal Planning (PBA) is responsible for overseeing campus budget and finances and provides management information on a broad range of topics, from finances and personnel to strategic planning, enrollment, and instruction.

The Budget Office within BFP is seeking applications for a competitive, full-time, paid apprenticeship program that runs from approximately June 2013 to December 2013.  Project work in the apprenticeship program will provide an introduction to higher education administration, non-profit budgeting and finance, data analysis, and narrative report preparation.  The successful candidate will have an opportunity to meet and work with individuals responsible for financial management of the campus, and will receive hands-on training in software including the Microsoft Office suite and an Oracle enterprise-wide finance system.

The ideal candidate will be a recent or upcoming graduate of CU-Boulder that has taken a well-rounded liberal arts curriculum, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater, and has good critical thinking skills.  This person also should excel in and enjoy research and analysis-type projects, and writing.  Students of all disciplines, including humanities and social science majors, are encouraged to apply.

Please submit a completed application and an unofficial transcript by April 10, 2013 to be considered for an apprenticeship position.  The essay questions and contact information for two references also must be submitted full consideration. For students expecting to graduate in May 2013, acceptance is contingent upon completion of the degree.  All material should be submitted electronically to ucb.budget@colorado.edu
