The Boulder Faculty Assembly Awards for Excellence in Service and Leadership, 2013

The Boulder Faculty Assembly is pleased to announce that up to four (4) awards for excellence in service will be awarded for spring 2013. Each award will be in the amount of $3,000.

The purpose of these awards is to recognize faculty for providing service and leadership to the university and building the overall CU community. Faculty service and leadership is defined as all of those professional activities other than teaching and research that are performed by faculty members as part of their University responsibilities or as community outreach (internal, external, or both kinds of service). Significant weight will be given to service and leadership that is outside a paid appointment. This may include such activities as:

- Committee work (department, campus, and university)
- Assistance with Campus-wide or University-wide events
- Faculty governance
- Student advising above and beyond that normally acknowledged by the candidate’s department
- Service in state, professional, or national organizations
- Volunteer work with public and non-profit organizations

Employment as a Department Chair or similarly compensated position alone is not a sufficient basis for this award, and will not be considered by the selection committee.
