Cross Country season starts Saturday

The University of Colorado cross country teams have consistently been one of the most dominate combined squads in the nation and this year the Buffs looks like they will remain that way with all of the talent returning to both men’s and women’s teams. 

The season officially kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 30, as the Buffs will host the CU Alumni/Open/Time Trial at the Buffalo Ranch Cross Country Course on CU’s South Campus. The women’s 5.8-kilometer race will start at 8:30 a.m. and the men’s 8k race will follow at 9:15 a.m. Parking and admission are free.

Student life: Semester at Sea - William DeSena's journey in poetry

As the saying goes, pictures are worth a thousand words. But do photos capture every nuance of feeling, like one or two lines of poetry can?

William DeSena, a CU-Boulder film studies student who spent the spring 2014 semester at sea through CU-Boulder's Study Abroad program, found that in poetry he could capture the steps of his journey in a way that retained sensory detail, beyond the still imagery of a photo.

New climate documentary featuring Boulder scientists to air Aug. 28

A new documentary about measuring past climate change as a way to better understand human-caused warming of the planet, which features several Boulder scientists, will be broadcast on Colorado Public Television on Thursday, Aug. 28.

Navy SEAL and best-selling author to speak at CU-Boulder Sept. 10

Marcus Luttrell, a former Navy SEAL and author of The New York Times best-selling book "Lone Survivor," will speak at the University of Colorado Boulder on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. in Macky Auditorium. Student tickets for the talk, which is sponsored by the Cultural Events Board, are free and will be available in the UMC starting Sept. 2, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Community tickets are $5 and are available now at
