Academic Honesty
The traditional concepts concerning academic integrity are standards, cheating, plagiarism, fabrication, aid of academic dishonesty, lying, bribery, threat, and sanctions. Students should consult with their instructors regarding specific standards or procedures appropriate in each given field. Academics
CU-Boulder offers 85 undergraduate majors through the College of Architecture and Planning, College of Arts and Sciences, Leeds School of Business, College of Engineering and Applied Science, College of Music, and School of Education. In addition, graduate students can choose from 70 master’s and 50 doctoral degree programs. www.colorado.edu/academics
Alumni Association
As an incoming student, you are part of the Alumni Association’s initiative called Forever Buffs. As a Forever Buff you are part of a strong alumni and student network. You and CU alumni have much in common, especially sharing Buff spirit, which will open doors for you throughout your life. Membership in the Herd, the student arm of the Alumni Association, also is a great way to engage with other students and celebrate being a Buff. With 5,000 members, it’s one of the strongest student groups in the country.
Career Services
Career Services is a great place to get help with planning your career, finding an internship, and getting a job or going to graduate school. The Career Services fee you pay with your tuition covers almost everything—access to online internship and postgraduate job opportunities, admission to career and internship fairs, on-campus interviewing, employer and job-search skills presentations, professional career counseling, résumé critiques, and résumé referrals.
Center for Multicultural Affairs
The Center for Multicultural Affairs (CMA) is a resource to students in providing advocacy, advising, support, and mentoring services aimed at increasing community, persistence, and empowerment of all students, using a particular lens of multiculturalism and social justice. A few of the programs offered by CMA are the Peer Mentor Program, First Generation Scholars Program, Diversity Awareness Trainings, White Ally Program, and Exploring Diversity Through Film Series.
E-mail is an official means of communication on the CU-Boulder campus. E-mail will be sent to your CU-Boulder e-mail address from the university, your professors, and college or school, which means you must check your university e-mail frequently. Graduate Students
As the Rocky Mountain region’s only comprehensive public research university, CU-Boulder produces a large share of the master’s and doctoral degrees granted in the state of Colorado. Libraries
The University Libraries have the tools you need to create successful research papers and projects: personal research assistance, drop-in research workshops, access to writing help, and vast scholarly resources (online journal articles, books, and more). And don’t forget about the desktop computers, laptops available for checkout, group study rooms, 24/5 study space, and coffee shops. Student Government
The University of Colorado Student Government (CUSG) is the student government for all CU-Boulder students. CUSG is among the most influential student governments in the nation and has an operating budget of more than $32 million. Similar to the structure of the U.S. government, CUSG has executive, legislative, and judicial branches. Executives are elected each year in the spring, and they appoint a staff of commissioners, student administrators, and administrative assistants. Legislative council meetings are held Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
