Educational Technology

The ATLAS building features innovative instructional spaces designed to encourage creative uses of in-class and distance learning technologies and engaged student learning practices.

Instructional spaces include two 25-seat classrooms, two 40-seat classrooms, and one 150-seat auditorium.

• The 25-seat and the 40 seat classrooms feature re-configurable chairs and tables, digital projectors, whiteboards, and 2-3 LCD flat screen panels in breakout zones for small group work. These rooms also have standard smart teaching podia for laptops (with Ethernet and projector connections, slide remotes, AC power, and controls for the data/video projector), and media cabinets equipped for showing DVDs, VHS tapes or television. The auditorium features a theater seating, a standard smart podium with controls (see details above) and a full projection booth at the rear of the auditorium. The state-of-the-art projector offers split-screen projection capabilities.

• Three carts of 15-25 laptops each are available for checkout to allow for individual or small group computer work at a 1:1 ratio for the smaller classrooms, and a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio for the larger. Laptops are equipped with software for word processing, collaborative learning, graphic image manipulation (Photoshop) and web site design (Dreamweaver).

• Two rooms feature distance learning capabilities. One of the 40-seat classrooms and the 150-seat auditorium are equipped with three cameras each.
