Goal: The national effort helped facilitate the integration of civic "real world" themes such as AIDS, Global Warming and Risk Assessment into traditional science courses at hundreds of institutions. The evaluation linked student feedback from over 10,000 students to differences in course design and found greater gains in confidence and interest in science were associated with courses integrating civic content and innovative instructional methods. Tim Weston recently concluded a three-year evaluation of the project.
