K-12 Partnerships

ATLAS provides leadership for a significant number of K-12 outreach projects.

These include:
• ATLAS has worked with the University of Colorado's Center for Spoken Language Research to understand the issues associated with integrating human language technology tools into K-12 settings.

• An ATLAS partnership with the CU Science Discovery Program and the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) enhanced an award-winning web site with innovative and effective instructional technology to enable students to better understand the concepts contributing to weather events.

• An innovative partnership between ATLAS and Denver Public School System's Computer Magnet Program teams CMP (mostly minority) students with ATLAS Technology Arts and Media (TAM) students in a design-focused, collaborative and nurturing program called the DigitalCUrrents Technology Summer Camp. The program's goal is to encourage middle school and high school students to pursue studies in technology-related fields.

ATLAS also has partnered with DPS on an NSF funded project. Recruiting Middle School Girls into The Denver Public Schools Computer Magnet, which brings together the ATLAS Evaluation and Research Team with the Denver Public Schools to try to understand the persuasive messages and methods that successfully recruit middle school minority and majority girls into the Denver Public Schools' Computer Magnet Program.
