Academics & Research
The College of Arts and Sciences offers a multidimensional, multidisciplinary liberal arts education encompassing academics and research. In the College, a driving force and a source of vitality and excitement, is the co-existence of research and education.
The "dual mission" realized by academics and research allows our faculty to continue research in a field of study, and allows students to participate in a working relationship in a highly specialized environment. Whether in the natural or physical sciences, one of the humanities such as theatre, or one of the social sciences, students and faculty work together to create exclusive and exciting education experiences that benefit society as a whole.
Our students enter the world fully equipped to assume leadership and service roles by virtue of the opportunities available as students in Boulder.
Departments and Programs
There are over 60 department and programs in the College, each one housed in one of three areas: The Natural Sciences, The Social Sciences, and Arts and Humanities.
The College of Arts & Sciences houses a number of research centers and institutes. Some of these centers and institutes perform vital research that advance our understanding of pressing issues, while others contribute to the breadth of knowledge in a variety of disciplines.
