What you need to know
- Unauthorized visitors are not allowed on campus on April 20, 2013. In 2012 a Boulder judge upheld CU’s ability to restrict campus visitors on April 20.
- For those visitors who are planning to attend an official CU event on April 20, or who are participants in academic meetings, symposia, conferences or other officially sanctioned activities, limited access to campus will be provided via a special registration program.
- Only CU-Boulder students, faculty and staff with their Buff OneCards will be permitted (see samples at right).
- Police will have checkpoints set up at all major entrances to campus, and parking rules will be strictly enforced.
- Non-campus affiliates who come to campus on April 20 can face a ticket for trespassing—a misdemeanor that carries a punishment of up to six months in jail and a $750 fine.
- University activities scheduled for April 20 will proceed as planned.
- Lawn areas of the Norlin Quad are off limits to everyone—anyone entering these areas will face a ticket for trespassing.
- Affiliates are encouraged to use alternative methods of transportation to get to and from campus.
