Daniel McKinnon's paper "Synthetic hydrogel platform for three-dimensional culture of embryonic stem cell-derived motor neurons" which described a synthetic hydrogel capable of maintaining the viability and enabling the axon extension of encapsulated ES-derived motor neurons was selected for the front cover of Biomaterials Science.
