The University of Colorado Campus and Community house a variety of organizations that do work to specifically counter and prevent the effects of high risk drinking. They include:
Alcohol Strategies Group is a campus-community coalition that advises the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs on what current alcohol policies, programs, and practices seem to be doing (or not doing) for the campus. Participants include student representatives from student government (UCSU), Residence Hall Association, and sororities—along with faculty members, staff, and community members. ASG always seeks more parent voices!
G.O.R.D. - Developed by students in response to the death of CU-Boulder student Gordon Bailey, Guidelines and Objectives of Responsible Drinking (G.O.R.D.) promotes alcohol awareness. It teaches students how to recognize and react to the signs of alcohol poisoning, using the Greek system as a channel to make students aware of the alcohol-related issues that affect them.
City Manager Student Advisory Committee- The committee was created to foster direct communication and collaboration between CU students and the city in order to strengthen the CU-city partnership and create opportunities for proactive student involvement in city government. Members on the committee represent a diverse array of student groups and perspectives. For more information or to contact the University-City Liaison, please click here.
