AlcoholEdu for College 2008 Data

  • About 52% of the incoming students expressed interest in getting involved in alcohol prevention efforts.  About 2488 want to attend events that do not focus on alcohol.  The top three alcohol-free activities students would like to see are: movie nights, live music and outside/recreation activities. Learn more about CU-Boulder students here.
  • 73% said the course prepared them to intervene when a friend is drinking too much. 
  • Of the students who drink alcohol, numerous protective behaviors (pacing drinks, alternate between alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, not accepting a drink from a common source (punchbowl), holding a drink so others stop bothering you, avoiding drinking games, establishing a plan ahead of time to make responsible decisions about drinking, monitoring one’s BAC, putting extra ice in a drink, letting a friend know you’ve had too much to drink, not riding with someone who has been drinking, and choosing a drink with less alcohol) improved.
  • 72% of CU-B who drink alcohol also eat food before or while drinking.
