Current Research

In the past several years, researchers are learning a great deal more about alcohol abuse and addiction. In particular, PET and MRI scans are revealing how the adolescent brain is impacted by high-risk drinking behaviors. We continue to learn about effective methods for intervening with high-risk students on campus and are working collaboratively with key community stakeholders, including bar owners, landlords and city council representatives.

College Alcohol Study (CAS)

In April 2008, the CAS was administered to a sample of CU-Boulder undergraduates. This bi-annual survey examines key issues regarding college alcohol use and high-risk behaviors including tobacco and illicit drug use, unsafe sex, violence and other behavioral, social and health problems. The data is used to improve current alcohol prevention programs and materials at CU-B. To view a brief summary of the results, please visit: www.colorado.edu/pba/surveys/special/rwj/CU_Survey08.htm.

This section of our website will be updated periodically so I invite you to return and work alongside us to continue to improve our campus and the broader Boulder community.
