AlcoholEDU

Welcome!

As part of CU-Boulder’s alcohol prevention program, all incoming students are asked to complete a confidential, online alcohol prevention course entitled AlcoholEdu for College. This two part course uses science-based research to educate students about alcohol and its effects. Whether you choose to drink or not, the course will help you make informed decisions about alcohol. It will also prepare you with tools to cope with the possible drinking behavior of your peers.

Part 1 (to be completed by August 20, 2009)

Takes about two hours to complete and includes the following:

  • Survey 1
  • a pre-test of your knowledge
  • educational course
  • Survey 2
  • an exam, which you must pass with a score of 80% percent

All student who complete Parts 1 and 2 are automatically entered into a raffle to win prizes including Blackberry phones and Amazon gift certificates.

Part 2 (to be completed by October 15, 2009)

After you arrive on campus, you will receive an email with instructions completing Part 2 of the course … which takes about 10 minutes and includes:

  • A short video; and
  • Survey 3

Voluntary completion of the course may be considered a mitigating factor, if in the future, you are found to have violated the Student Conduct Code.

All survey responses are strictly confidential. The University will only receive aggregate information.

Whether or not a student drinks, AlcoholEdu will provide personalized information motivating them to make healthy behavior decisions and how to better handle peers' drinking behavior. The University of Colorado at Boulder has set high standards for our undergraduates - and we expect our students to meet the challenges and to thrive here. In turn, we will make every effort to ensure our students' success.

We take seriously our obligation to provide the best possible learning environment for students. Over the past decade, we have made great strides in offering our students late-night, social activities that do not focus on alcohol. In addition, we have established policies to address students' alcohol use as well as the harmful effects of high risk drinking.

Note: You can access the AlcoholEdu course online beginning July 20, 2009.
