Vikram Deshpande

 

After a PhD at Cambridge Engineering Department and a Maudslay Research Fellow at Pembroke College, Cambridge and a Lindemann Research Fellowship at Brown University, USA, Vikram Deshpande joined the faculty of Engineering at Cambridge as a lecturer in October 2001. He was awarded a Philip Leverhulme Prize in October 2003. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His current research interests include: mechanics of foams and lattice materials, dynamic behaviour of structures, plasticity at the micron length scale, micro-mechanics of asphalt and mechano-biology of cells and tissues. He has published over 90 international journal articles in the field of experimental and theoretical Solid Mechanics.CU Aerospace Homepage
