Engineering Student needed for Part Time work in Environmental Services for Spring 2012 semester

 

We are again in need of a engineering student to finalize the work loading and SOP’s for Dining Hall custodial work, to improve the work loading task cards and complete the color coding of floor plans.

 

Below are the job responsibilities and necessary skills for the student required in Environmental Services (E/S):

 

Essential Job Functions:

-Write and edit SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) for Custodial Services

-Read floor plans to determine square footage of areas

-Develop work loading by specialist and frequency based on floor plans and standards

-Document workload plan in task lists

-Summarize workload plan in spreadsheet

-Edit floor plans to provide visual reference for staff

-Maintain electronic files according to procedures

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Ability to read and interpret Floor Plans

-Proficiency in the use and operations of personal computer

-Knowledge of the following software:

-Microsoft Office (especially Microsoft Word and Excel including: Complex spreadsheet functionality, VBA/Macro development & conditional formats)

                -Photoshop (including layering)

-Ability to research to find needed information

-Ability to apply research and standards to real world situations

-Self-starter and ability to work independently

-Organized and ability to simply complex concepts

-Attention to detail so as to maintain accuracy in own work

-Ability to write and edit own work

-Ability to meet required deadlines

-Effective verbal communication skills to explain methodology

-Ability to work with others to find optimal solution

 

Timeframe: Min. required: Spring semester 2012. Min. of 20 hours per week.

TAC (part of the Communication Department) looking for a freshman or sophormore:

Assistant System Administrator/ Desktop Support

Must be a freshman or sophomore (2 or more years of school left).
Respond to user requests for desktop/ general tech support and
troubleshooting. Provide friendly walk in support for system
installations and setup, video digitization services, manage equipment,
and occasional special event support. The student will be trained on Windows Server environment and network applications to assist the systems admin
maintaining multiple servers and user groups. Self-directed learner,
good communication and customer service skills.  Windows
Server 2003 or 2008, IIS, Apache, mySQL database, and/or PHP knowledge
is a plus, but not required.

The Student Academic Services Center (SASC) is a multicultural advocacy and academic program designed to prepare students for success by providing a strong base and support in all areas of student life.

Applicants must:

  • Be a current degree-seeking student at CU-Boulder
  • Have taken this (or similar) course,
  • Be a Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student status
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in applicable courses
  • A strong desire to advance study skills and promote excellent academic standards for students is essential.  

 

Pay is $14 per hour for graduate students, $9.50 for undergraduate students.  All tutors must pass a background check with the university.
