ENGINEERING AND PHYSICS   EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY    CTY is seeking candidates for a full-time Assistant Program Manager position, based out of Baltimore, MD. CTY offers intense, 3-week summer academic programs for highly talented students from across the country and around the world.     Assistant Program Managers work closely with Program Managers and Assistant Directors in planning and executing all activities related to academic summer programs (residential and day) for 10,000+ academically talented students annually, including assisting with direct management of 1-4 sites.    Primary duties and responsibilities of the job:  Manage summer sites, including recruiting, hiring, firing, training, supervising and evaluating summer faculty/staff; negotiating contracts with host sites; and resolving student- and faculty/staff-related problems. Assist with faculty/staff recruiting. Interview and hire faculty/staff. Assist with writing and editing publications. Participate in curriculum development. Participate in development of faculty/staff training materials. Clarify CTY and JHU policy and procedure for faculty, staff, parents, and students. Communicate with and advise students, parents, and school representatives. Represent CTY at national, regional and local conferences.    Qualifications:    Education  Bachelor's degree; master's preferred.   Majors in engineering, science, or math preferred.    Special skills and knowledge:  Ability to manage high volume of work and multiple priorities; computer literate; excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; knowledge of teaching/ pedagogy and/or residential program issues; knowledge of both college and pre-college education highly desired.    Related work experience:  A minimum of 2 years relevant experience, e.g., in teaching (college or pre-college), residential life (college or boarding school), or other relevant academic administrative experience. Additional education may substitute for some experience. Experience with academically talented students highly desired.    Additional information:  Hours include some nights and weekends. Travel also required, particularly during the summer. Summer travel includes 3 residencies, each 1-2 weeks long, at program sites.      We have residential sites located in California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Washington state. We have day sites for commuters  located in the Baltimore/Washington, DC, Los Angeles, CA and San Diego, CA areas. We also have an international program in Hong Kong. All sites are managed from our home base in Baltimore, with trips during the spring and summer to meet with host contacts and set up the summer programs.
