Last week was Big/Little week in my sorority. This means that the new pledge class gets paired up with a girl from the older pledge class to be her big sister. This week is a lot of fun because you get to find out who your big sister and little sister will be. I was so excited to find out who my little was! The week of Big/Little reveal, we give our littles presents everyday to show them how much their appreciated and how happy we are that they are a member of our sorority.

The Blackout game is the only football game that the Buffs play at night. It is called the blackout game because all of the students and the fans wear all black to make the crowd look like a blackout. It always surprises me how every student wears all black and how some students even go all out by painting themselves black to emphasize the blackout. This game took place last Thursday and was so much fun! The atmosphere at the blackout game is always great because people really get into it, even though we got crushed by UCLA. 

This past Sunday, I got the opportunity to attend the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. This race is a walk/run held in Denver to fundraise for breast cancer funds. There were thousands of people there and it was an awesome way to spend my Sunday. I attended Race for the Cure with my sorority. We met up in Denver bright and early and walked the 5K to support those who have survived and those who have passed from breast cancer. There were people everywhere and it was so great to see how many people support this cause. 

This past weekend was Parent's Weekend and I was lucky enough to have my parents fly out from California to visit me. There are many activities that CU Boulder puts on for parent's weekend that are a lot of fun. There are special tailgates and pre-football game fun to attend. My parents came in on Friday morning and I met them for dinner after my classes at Hapa sushi on the Pearl Street Mall. We then walked around Pearl Street Mall and looked into the shops. They just recently put in a new candy store on the Pearl Street Mall so we went in and looked for a good 30 minutes. 

This past Monday, I was lucky enough to attend the Jason Mraz concert at Red Rocks Ampitheatre. Red Rocks is located in Golden, Colorado and is, in my opinion, the best place to see a concert. The ampitheatre is built into the rocks and has a great city view as you look out past the stage. Although there is a bit of a hike up many stairs to get to your seats, it is definitely worth it once you get there. This was my first time attending a concert at Red Rocks and it definitely lived up to all of the hype. 

After a long and boring summer, I was ready to be back in Boulder for my sophomore year. I was so excited to be reunited with all of my friends and couldn't wait to get back into the swing of things. With my sorority's recruitment on top of new classes, I've been incredibly busy since I've been back in Boulder. This was all worth the work when we ran a successful recruitment in the second week of school and got to celebrate with a fun bid day! Bid day is the day that all of the new members join their sorority and go do something fun for their first day with their new sisters. 

This past week was Greek Week for sororities and fraternities. Each sorority is paired up with one or two fraternities and compete in different competitions throughout the week. This years theme, decided by the panhellenic board, was tv channels. The different themes were themes such as entertainment television, tv land classics, and nickoledon tv shows. My team's theme was animal planet so we had our competitions revolving around things to do with animals. 

As my first year of college is quickly coming to a close, I decided to let you know what my favorite classes that I took this year were. Being a freshman, it isn't easy knowing what types of classes you will be the most comfortable in or what subjects you will be interested in. My main tip is to just try out some classes to see if you like them. This is something to do especially if you are open-option like me. I took a political science class to see if I would be interested in that as my major.

This past Sunday was Easter! Since is was my cousins' Spring Break, my whole family got to visit me for Easter. We started out the weekend by dying Easter eggs and having dinner at Salt on Pearl Street. It was so great to be on Pearl Street in the spring to see all of the tulips in bloom. We walked around and danced to the street performer's music with my 4 year old and 7 year old cousins. 

This past week was spring break! I was lucky enough to get to take a vacation in Mexico with my family and our family friends. We had so much fun taking a break from school work and after a week of midterms, it was well deserved. We started the week off with a visit to my hometown and a trip to San Francisco. My Big from Kappa was coming with us and wanted to ride a Cable Car and see the Golden Gate Bridge and although it was pouring rain, we made the best of it. After 2 days in rainy California, we got right back on a plane and landed in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
