So You Want to Study Abroad?

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

When I entered college, I knew that there was one thing that I definitely wanted to do within my four years, and that is study abroad. Both of my sisters went to CU Boulder and studied abroad second semester junior year. As I attended school, I began to understand that this seemed to be the trend for those who want to study abroad. The first step to studying abroad is attending a Study Abroad 101 meeting in the C4C. I went to this meeting being sure that I wanted to go abroad second semester junior year.

Oktoberfest

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

These past two weekends Oktoberfest has been going on in Denver. The company that put on this event in Human Movement Management. This is the company that I got an internship with for this semester. I had never thought about going into event management until this opportunity arose. I found out about this internship through my sorority. One of the girls that works for Human Movement used to be in my sorority and graduated last year. They started the internship program this year and thought that she would first reach out to members of Kappa.

Sorority Recruitment

Tuesday, October 1, 2013

This past weekend was Sorority Recruitment! This is the time that all of the freshmen or sophomores who want to be in a sorority go through the process of choosing a house. It’s nothing like what you see in the movies, there is not judging on which item you eat first or what you wear. Recruitment, or rush, is a 4 day long process. And believe me, it is a whirlwind of an experience.

Flash Flood

Thursday, September 19, 2013

This past week, we experienced something in Boulder that has never been experienced in my lifetime. Last Wednesday, I went to class wearing shorts and a tank top and then a few hours later, I was decked out in my rain jacket and rain boots. A dramatic change of the weather sent Boulder into a state of emergency. The night started out with just a little rain. While for some people rain isn't their favorite, I love rain days! I love hanging out inside snuggling up with hot chocolate and watching a movie. But this was more than just a rain day, this was a storm.

It's Football Season!

Friday, September 13, 2013

This past weekend was CU Boulder's first home game of the season against Central Arkansas! Game days are up there on my favorite days as a CU student. As I walked around The Hill to buy a new Colorado shirt for the new school year, everybody was decked out in black and gold. Families, students, and alumni were walking around singing the fight song and yelling "Go Buffs"! You could definitely feel the spirit in the air!

Back to Boulder

Tuesday, September 3, 2013

The Summer is finally over and school has started with a whirlwind. I drove to Boulder from my hometown in California with excitment for the new year. I moved into my sorority house for the second year and excitedly greeted all of my friends! I put my room together, and trust me that was not easy. While I'm packing up my stuff from home, I always forget that I have to fit everything into a small room that I have to share with another person and I always completely overpack. So after my I finished unpacking and got settled in to my new home, I got ready for the year.

Greek Week 2013

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

This past week have been Greek Week at CU Boulder. Greek Week is when the sororities and fraternities are paired up to make up 9 teams. Each team competes in different events each day for points. The team with the most points at the end wins Greek Week and wins a trophy for their house. This year's theme was Boulder Class Reunion and each team had a Most Likely to... theme. Our theme was Most Likely To Become a Rockstar and all of our events were based on this theme.

Yoga in Boulder

Sunday, April 21, 2013

When I was in High School, I started doing Yoga with my mom as way to bond and a way to get through my senioritis. This is when I realized that I really liked doing yoga as a way to work out. Since I've been in college, I've loved finding new ways to excercise and new classes to attend. One of my favorite things to still do is attend yoga classes. This can get pretty expensive since drop in classes are a little too pricey for me, even though they do have student discounts which is really nice. I go when I can, but this can add up.

Easter

Monday, April 1, 2013

This year for Easter, my family flew out to Boulder so that we could all spend time together. We woke up in the morning and I went on an easy run around the town while my dad and my sister went on a harder run up Boulder canyon. They said that it was the most beautiful run that they have been on because it is up the mountains and has a beautiful view the whole time. We then went to Easter brunch at the Hotel Boulderado. This is an old hotel down by the Pearl Street Mall, which is said to be haunted. It is really cool looking and serves the best brunch!
