End of Summer

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Hey guys!

Sorry I've taken so long to post again, I really underestimated how much summer would mess with my internal schedule!

Lab Work

Friday, June 10, 2011

Hey everyone! Summer is really messing with my blogging skills! In the time since my last post though, I started my summer research job. I’m working with a graduate student in a lab in the biochemistry department, performing experiments on human T-cells. Basically, we have a segment of DNA (called a promoter) that controls the transcription of a certain immune protein. Our project focuses on trying to find out what the necessary factors are that result in the highest levels of transcription (production) of this protein.

Home and Back to Boulder

Sunday, May 29, 2011

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted in forever, it’s been quite a busy 3 weeks! I got to go home for a little while, got to show my girlfriend all around the ATX, and take an 18 hour car ride back to Boulder! And I haven’t even started my summer research project yet!

Summertime!

Sunday, May 8, 2011

Hey everyone, it’s finally summer! Finals are over, campus is empty, and most people are returning home for at least a little bit. Like many of them, I’m going home as well. Luckily, I get to come back for most of the summer. I’m going home for about three weeks and then coming back to Boulder to do research here at CU in a biochemistry lab. The only downside to the end of the year is the packing. I packed most of today and part of yesterday, and I’m still not done! Who knew one person could have 6 or 7 boxes of stuff in one apartment.

Finals Part II

Sunday, May 1, 2011

We’re in the midst of finals here at CU, and I’m halfway done! Luckily, I only ended up with 2 finals this semester, unlike most of my peers. My Organic Chemistry final was at 7:30AM on Saturday. If you think 8AM classes sound bad, you haven’t had a final at 7:30AM. Your brain isn’t even warmed up by the time you get there! The final itself wasn’t too bad; it was pretty much like I expected. The power did go out in our room for about 10 seconds or so halfway through the test, which was a nice break from the hard test. Now, all I’ve got left is my Calculus III exam tomorrow.

Finals!

Monday, April 25, 2011

Sorry I didn’t post earlier everyone, but I’ve been holed away preparing for my finals. This is the season when almost every undergraduate does more studying than sleeping and more reading than eating. Luckily, I only have 2 finals, but I still have to prepare for those. Wish me luck! I promise good flatirons pictures after finals!

One last ski trip

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

This past weekend I took what will probably be my last ski trip this season. Most of the mountains are closing this weekend or sometime around then, so there’ll be nowhere to go. But it’s OK because the mountains are open in the summer for mountain biking and some have giant alpine slides. It’s still a sad time when you know you won’t see that much snow for a few months! Now to focus on finals…
