Life is not for Figuring Out all At Once...

Monday, February 6, 2012

I am an avid book reader. Avid.

Every page is a maze.

Just like life.

But while I realise that life is not figuring out or running on lists, I'll try to map out the last 10 months or so of university.I'll be starting a project on this blog based on the 100 things to do while in College book by Hudak and Gordon.

Let's go!

Have You Ever Graced Front Page?

Friday, January 27, 2012

I cannot believe that I did not mention this all this while. Last year, I won a contest which placed the winning entry on the front page of the freshman level writing textbook, Knowing Words.

Well, since the photograph featured my face, there I am on the cover.

It is interesting to have people around campus tell me that they saw my face on their textbook.

Until the World "Ends"...

Sunday, January 22, 2012

While there are many not-very-pleasant aspects of being a student, one thing is great:

New beginnings.

And students are entitled to one every semester.

This is a great year for all those who will be graduating, including myself, and I would like to finish this race much better than I started it.

So far, the semester is great, I am already getting used to my studying outlines and I am very well staying on top of things. This is the best time to start studying - it makes the difference between an A and an A-.

Little Known Secrets in StudyVille, Boulder

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

Hate studying in the main Norlin library? Yeah, me too. So, I've compiled a list of relatively unknown places on campus where I've studied at one point or the other.

1. Student Group Office:

If you are an officer of a student group registered on campus and your group has an office in the UMC, you are entitled to a key card that grants you access into the office while the UMC is open. Your SOFO signers should be able to arrange this key card for you. Student group offices are quiet and spacey and have limited access.

The Story of $10,000

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

Well, not in cash.

This semester, I took GEOG 3053 - Cartography 1 with the Geography department. Initially, I was not very keen on taking this class but seeing that it is a requirement for my Geography degree, I had no choice. Once I saw that the class was worth 4 credits and had weekly labs lasting 3 hours, I became even more expectant of a time-demanding syllabus.

The Real Enemy is...

Friday, December 2, 2011

Hey guys,

Thanksgiving break was great, just like it always it. The only con is that right after Thanksgiving comes finals. I'm taking 19 credits this semester and that leaves me with 6 finals and papers. A lot. Or maybe not so much. Here are the things I've learned in my three years of university which have heloed me with finals:

Habits are what build up character and its important to work on habits now instead of later. Why do tomorrow what can be done today. Right?

Well, my health is my most priced asset (capital) and its the core of my productivity in school. Therefore, I absolutely do not spare myself when it comes to good food. Food is fuel and I need to keep this fire burning. Boulder is great because it has such a beautiful collection of restaurants and cafes. I've never been to another small city with great food beneath the mountains.

Africa is a 'Country'

As we all know, Colorado is not the most physically diverse state, talk less of Boulder.

We are NOT just IN the world, we are PART OF it.

Last weekend, the staff of the Environmental Centre at CU Boulder went on a retreat in the mountains of Nederland. The CU Mountain Research Station (MRS) played host to our retreat.

Take Back the Tap

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

It's never too early to start sourcing for an internship.

Internships gradually expose you to the working world and at the same time, they reveal your preferences within your major(s). If you are considering graduate school, internships help narrow your interests towards your graduate degree.

Last semester, I interned with CoPIRG, woking on the Take Back the Tap project.

CU Boulder is a hub of internships, research opportunities and academically relevant projects.

My internship experience added to my academic and social experiences.
