Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Stop?

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

You’ll hear a lot about how much fun it is to go study out on Farrand Field, hike Chatauqua, or swim in the new Buff pool. But as a prospective student, you might be wondering what there is to do in the 6-7 months during which being outside is less than super duper fun.

A Weekend of too Much Dessert and Texas Hold'em

Tuesday, February 24, 2015

This weekend, winter finally decided to return to Colorado. I went to bed on Friday with a little bit of snow falling, but by Saturday night, there was almost a foot. I personally love the snow and couldn’t have been more excited, but some of my Florida and southern California friends were less than thrilled.

It's bad timing, though, because this weekend happened to be dad's weekend for my sorority! Lots of dads had to cancel, but luckily for me, my parents live 10 minutes away and my dad decided to make the trek to come see me!

A Trip to Amarillo

Tuesday, February 24, 2015

Hello all,

Over the weekend, the lacrosse team opened its 2015 campaign with a trip to Amarillo, TX, a city in the northern panhandle of Texas. We drove down (about an 8 hour ride) to play Texas State, and UConn. As far as the lacrosse went, we were successful. We won both games with comfort and loaded back up on the bus happy with our performance. However, I thought I would share a few of my observations about Amarillo.

Sounds of Boulder

Tuesday, February 24, 2015
Everyone loves live music, and with two amazing venues close to campus, there is always a live show to see here in Boulder.  This past month I have seen concerts at both The Fox and Boulder Theater.  A couple weeks ago I saw Riff Raff at The Fox, and just last night I saw Odesza at Boulder Theater.  These shows are amazing due to the intimate setting both venues embody.  Also, tickets for shows at both of these venues are usually relatively inexpensive.

Midterms: The Week, the Myth, the Lgend

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

About four weeks into school, you’ll encounter one of the most fearsome prospects of college… midterm week. Theoretically, every month there’s a week dedicated to midterms, but somehow for those of us that aren’t engineers, it never quite works out that way. I’m not sure which way is worse, having tests stacked up back to back so you have to cram, or constantly having tests hanging over your head.

Three Weeks in South Africa

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

This past May, I had the opportunity to travel to South Africa with a CU professor and two other CU students to conduct research for the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) of South Africa. We met many master's students who worked as researchers for the HSRC and co-authored several policy briefs for the government. We were able to work separately also on research regarding peace-building in communities that had been started by our professor. We lived in Pretoria and were able to travel around to Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Study Abroad Reunions

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

When I came back from abroad, I missed traveling to places every few days, getting to take classes that only pertained to the places that we were going, but most of all I missed my friends that I made. It was weird from going to hanging out with these people to every single day, to not knowing when we would see each other again. When we got off of the ship, we immediately started planning our trips with each other so that we wouldn't have to be apart for long.

Fat Tuesday

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

Some may think this article is about Fat Tuesday, the holiday, in fact it will be about how enjoyable gaining the freshmen fifteen is at CU-Boulder.
