Winter Break in Baton Rouge

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Ah the Winter Break. It really is the best part of the school year. Most students will go home and spend time with their families before returning for the Spring semester. This year, we had a shorter than normal break, which drew some groans from other students, but nonetheless, we had about a month off to unwind. Many students also take this opportunity to make headway on their ski passes, and almost everyone who skis uses break as an opportunity to get a few days in.

The League

Monday, January 7, 2013

Starting in 6th grade, my friends and I have engaged in our country's most popular hobby.  No, not NASCAR, not fishing, not baseball, not even political partisanship.  A pastime that captures the minds, hearts, and productive work times of millions of Americans today.  The one and only fantasy football.

Finals Grind

Monday, January 7, 2013

After surviving the latest round of finals, I am more than glad to be on winter break.  This semester was especially stressful for me, for a few reasons.  However, I was certainly not alone in my finals dread.

Rock Chalk Buffalo

Following CU's win over CSU at a sold-out, record-crowd Coors Events Center, the Buffs headed to Lawrence, Kansas to take on the #6 Kansas Jayhawks.  Naturally, my roommates and I decided to come along for the ride.

Finals Week

Monday, December 17, 2012

With finals week once again upon us, it's time to stop messing around and get down to work. This is a little bit hard when you know you won't see your friends for three weeks and just want to talk to them every minute that you can. My finals schedule this semester is a little bit brutal, with finals on Friday, Monday, Tuesday, and two of Wednesday. And to top it all off I am flying home Wednesday night straight after my final. At least I can sleep all day Thursday at home. I had a lot of studying to do, well I still do but a lot less.

Happy Holidays

I’m almost there!

Just three days, three final exams, and a two-hour plane ride remain between me and my return to Texas. It’s bittersweet however, because, as I’ve been trying to show all semester, life is pretty fun at CU. I’m definitely going to miss all of my fraternity brothers and other Boulder friends, but it will be nice to see my Texas friends as well. It’ll also be nice to not have to worry about how many layers to wear, as the weather is much warmer back home.

Finals Time!

Saturday, December 15, 2012

They're here! Today marks the first day of Finals Fall 2012. I have a test tonight in Creative Technology at 7:30 PM... super late and weird to have on a Saturday night! But I am excited to get it over with because then I have only one more test before I am home for break.

Never Trust the Weatherman

Never Trust the Weather Man

Growing up in Boulder, it didn’t take me long to realize to never trust the weatherman. Ever. As a result of Boulder’s unique geographic location with the mountains and everything weather patterns are especially unpredictable, so the weatherman really does have an unenviable job to begin with.

Final Finals

Thursday, December 13, 2012

In the past, my blog posts around finals definitely have note a panic in them. I'm frantic for a solid week as I ingest facts, numbers, data, theory. I'm freaking out as I churn out final research papers while trying to squeeze my extra credit assignments in. But this year, with finals broaching, that sense of urgency and panic has been replaced with a cool, collected focus. I make a list of things to get done, and then I do it. I'm currently getting ahead on some last-minute assignments instead of putting them off until four hours before the final.

Fun with...finals?

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Yeah yeah, I know. Fun and finals should not go in the same sentence. But, you guys, it's almost the end of the semester, which means next semester is coming soon, which means that I will be a second semester senior, which means that I have to a matter of months. I have to leave CU and get a job and become a grown up and actually apply everything I've learned in my time here to real life.
