Ralphie

Friday, February 22, 2013

We are very proud of our mascot here at CU. Ralphie is our 1,000 pound female Buffalo. We can't have a male Buff because the males are literally too big and mean, thus posing a potential safety hazard. That said, Ralphie is still a great tradition for us.

Harlem Shake to End All Harlem Shakes

Friday, February 22, 2013

In my Acting for Nonmajors class this week, we were asked to prepare our monologues for coaching. This means we brought in the monologue we had been working on for a five minute one-on-one segment with our teacher. She helped me deicde more of the physical aspects of my monologue - where I should stand, look, move my arms, etc. I really enjoy the exercises we get to do in the class to express ourselves and find more of the actions that we are the best at! Someday I really might want to pursue a bit of acting outside of my usual Young Life skits on Wednesday nights.

Greek Week Is Upon Us!

Thursday, February 21, 2013

It's the most wonderful time of the spring semester! Well, for me anyways! Tonight our Greek Week partners were announced, as well as our theme! The overall theme is Class Reunion, with the specific themes being superlatives (like Most likely to...) We are so happy to be paired with the beautiful ladies of Sigma Rho Lamda, as well as the wonderful gentlemen of Pi Kappa Phi and Alpha Gamma Omega. Though Greek Week is still about a month and a half away, preparations have already started!

Just take a chance already!

These past couple of weeks have really made me think about what drives us forward. Each of us is motivated for different reasons. I know that I am often motivated by failure and by pushing myself beyond a personal challenge. Others may be motivated by reward, peer-pressure, or acceptance, but no matter what it is, we are all driven by something.

With Midterms beginning, the whole campus is a busy studying and preparing. Here is a list of my favorite places to study when you need to finish that project or write the rest of that paper.

This past week my favorite program the Office of Admissions offers for prospective students started up again--- Student for a Day. But I will talk a little bit more about that later…

Saturday, February 16, 2013

This week I could wear shorts one day and be in snow up to my ankles the next! It's classic Colorado weather in February.

Snow in Boulder

Friday, February 15, 2013

Finally!! It snowed this week in Boulder! This year there has been a serious lack of snow both in Boulder and in the mountains. But this past weekend I was able to go up to Beaver Creek Resort to ski with some friends. The snow conditions were great, a lot of fresh from the night before, a bit of snow fall during the morning, and sun in the afternoon. Unfortunately, we did not plan very well and got stuck in the crazy Sunday afternoon traffic on I-70...for five hours! But the day was so good and we had good company so it was not nearly as bad as it could have been.

Freshman Year Nostalgia

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay! I was pretty sick yesterday, and didn't really move from bed! But I'm back at it today and feeling better! It's quite a Valentine's day outside, I must say. I went to class this morning with just a polar fleece on and after class there was already an inch of snow on the ground! Absolutely beautiful, but I was definitely not prepared in the least! Hopefully the snow will stick around for a while. My parents and brother are back in Boston, and they think that the snow from the blizzard will stick around for at least a few weeks.
