It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!

Thursday, December 6, 2012

...sort of! This week has been a lot of fun though, and it's acting kind of like the calm before the storm that is Finals Week. A lof of alumnae from my sorority, Delta Delta Delta, are back in town for both the Pine Party, which is our annual holiday party, and our Formal, which is tonight! The Pine Party is always so much fun, and probably one of my favorite events of the year. All of the alumnae bring their kids, or even grandkids, and we decorate cookies, make gingerbread houses, and decorate the Christmas tree that we have in our living room.

Very Busy Weekend

Wednesday, December 5, 2012

Last weekend was packed with fun events and great memories with my best friends. On Friday night, my friends and I went to the Grizzly Rose for the Chris Cagle concert. The Grizzly Rose is a linedancing club in Denver. My friends and I got together a bus to take us down there and we had so much fun blasting country music and dancing all the way to the concert. When we got there, the place was packed with people. On normal nights, the Grizzly Rose plays country music and everybody line dances together.

Semester Wrapping Up

Tuesday, December 4, 2012

Every year the return from Thanksgiving is accompanied by a wrapping up of school and extra-curricular activities. Projects come to a (stressful) close, banquets are held, and awards given.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Sunday, December 2, 2012

It's the most wonderful time of the year!...well, almost.

As Christmas lights go up, and holiday banquets and celebrations commence, classes are wrapping up and finals are quickly approaching.  Yes, the dreaded finals week--the week where sleep takes a back seat and coffee becomes as important as air. But, you know, it doesn’t have to be as stressful as some might make it seem. You see, it’s all about balance.

Before the Home Stretch

Saturday, December 1, 2012

I always feel like the week after a break is (relatively) stress free because I did all my work to catch up over break! But that doesn't mean final tests and projects aren't keeping their distance from me - we have two weeks until finals!

Thanksgiving Break

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Last week was Thanksgiving Break and I was lucky enough to get to go home. I'm from California, so I flew home on Friday night with my sister and about half of my high school. I was so excited to have a break from school for a little while and just relax for a whole week. When we got home, we ate a really good dinner and just hung out with the whole family. It was so nice to all be together again. The next day, we watched as Buffs football. It was pouring in my hometown and we couldn't help but think that we should've stayed in Boulder as the football game showed a warm and sunny day.

Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 29, 2012

Thanksgiving is easily my favorite holiday. It really isn’t even close. I mean, what’s not to like? Family, friends, and a schmorgazborg (I’m pretty sure that not a real word) that lasts well past the Thanksgiving dinner itself.

At CU, we have the full week of Thanksgiving off of school. So, most students head home and spend time with their families, and away from their studies. Finals are beginning to lurk on the horizon, so I for one really enjoyed the time to decompress.

Skies

Thursday, November 29, 2012

The late November Boulder sky has been something to marvel at lately. The early mornings and setting sun of the evenings stretch across the sky, an expansive canvas of pinks, oranges, and yellows bathing in the last remnents of the sun. The clouds, spilling out from the tips of the Flatirons, soak in the warm hues of dusk, coating the sky in a rich, velvety fabric that you could seemingly reach out and touch. A few evenings (and one Godforesaken early morning) this past week, I witnessed the artistry of Mother Nature when riding my bike or walking home from class.

Birthday Time!

Wednesday, November 28, 2012

Happy Birthday to me! I'm so happy that I got to celebrate my birthday out here! I had so much fun and I'm looking forward to celebrating even more with my friends who already graduated this weekend! Plus, I'm really glad my birthday is happening now, because with finals just around the corner, I need to start studying soon!
