Snow in Boulder

Friday, February 15, 2013

Finally!! It snowed this week in Boulder! This year there has been a serious lack of snow both in Boulder and in the mountains. But this past weekend I was able to go up to Beaver Creek Resort to ski with some friends. The snow conditions were great, a lot of fresh from the night before, a bit of snow fall during the morning, and sun in the afternoon. Unfortunately, we did not plan very well and got stuck in the crazy Sunday afternoon traffic on I-70...for five hours! But the day was so good and we had good company so it was not nearly as bad as it could have been.

Freshman Year Nostalgia

Thursday, February 14, 2013

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay! I was pretty sick yesterday, and didn't really move from bed! But I'm back at it today and feeling better! It's quite a Valentine's day outside, I must say. I went to class this morning with just a polar fleece on and after class there was already an inch of snow on the ground! Absolutely beautiful, but I was definitely not prepared in the least! Hopefully the snow will stick around for a while. My parents and brother are back in Boston, and they think that the snow from the blizzard will stick around for at least a few weeks.

Boulder Public Art

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

In case you haven't noticed by now, I really love Boulder.

One of my favorite aspects is all the public art we have around this city. I have always been a huge proponent of public art, and as some of my friends can attest to, I used to build pieces of public art at parties. I think things like the Bean in Chicago, or the "Love" sculpture in Philadelphia can add a lot of character to a city, and Boulder does have it's fair share, although I do wish that some were displayed more prominently.

A Little Slice of Honors Hell

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Hello All!

Apologies on not posting in a couple weeks. Life has really been picking up lately. You see, I am currently working on my senior honors thesis and it has been quite an intensive (but rewarding!) undertaking.

Boulder Nightlife

Monday, February 11, 2013

One of the best parts of going to school in Boulder is the abundance of nightlife. There's always something cool going on around here, whether it's provided by CU-Boulder or the city in general.

Administrative Fun

Monday, February 11, 2013

Last week was full of administrative fun - I signed a lease on my house for next year, facilitated a few group visits for high schools coming to see the CU campus, and started up the first session of my online course. But as always, I made time for fun along the way.

Bachelorette Party Sisterhood

Saturday, February 9, 2013

Last Wednesday, we had a sisterhood at Kappa. Sisterhoods are when we have events just for the girls in the sorority. We get to hang out with each other and do fun activities. In the past, we have gone to WaterWorld, played with a reindeer and saw a psychic. This time, the sisterhood's theme was a bachelorette party. It was a surprise until the day that it happened and our Standards Chair, who planned the event, announced what we were doing when everyone was gathered. We were all so excited to do something fun and new.

Another Day in the Life

Saturday, February 9, 2013

Sitting at the end of this crazy week, I will stop and reflect for a second on the whirlwind that it was.  Consuming my mind, body, and soul, the past few days have pushed me to my limits and drawn me extremely thin, but at the end of it all I am grateful for the experiences I've had and the journey I am living.  Everything will become clear before Spring Break, and I am excited for what lies ahead.

SIA in Denver

Friday, February 8, 2013

Last weekend I was able to go to SIA at the Convention Center in Denver. SIA, which stands for SnowSports Industries America, is a convention where all the big name brands in the skiing and snowboarding industry gather in one place to show off all of their new gear. The event is not open to the public and is mainly attended by people who work in the industry, especially representatives from ski and snowboard shops looking for what to sell in their shops for the next season.
