Superbowl Weekend

I’m sure you all tuned in for possibly the most watched power outage in the history of the world, I mean, the Super Bowl. Hopefully you weren’t too disappointed by the outcome, but it’s always fun to watch football!

This week, school and meetings took priority and I didn't get to go skiing! Woe is me! I was especially bummed because some of the resorts an hour away got a foot of snow in 72 hours! Crazy awesome! But because I didn't get to ski, I had more time to get coffee with friends and get other work done early.

Coming back to Boulder after Christmas break, when I was in Washington enjoying tons of fresh snow in the mountains, I was all ready for a good Colorado winter complete with good skiing (my favorite thing to do). However, I was surprised to find my first couple weeks back were filled with warm, almost "hot", weather; with temperatures reaching around 60 degrees. Instead of being able to do my favorite activity, I was able to do some of my second favorite activity, rock climbing.

This first week of school has been bitter sweet. On one hand I am excited for all of my classes, especially African Dance! But on the other, the idea of heading off to the real world in just under five months is a bit daunting. Yes, it has been stressful searching for jobs and trying to figure out what I will do once I leave the Boulder Bubble, but it has also been invigorating to know that I have to opportunity to pursue a career that I love.

Time is flying! My parents called me today to tell me that they officially bought their tickets to come out for graduation. No turning back now, I guess! They also started talking about all of the things they wanted to do when they were out here. Let me tell you, they are trying to cram A LOT of stuff into three days! But that's only natural, seeing as it's my dad's second time out to Boulder and my mom's fifth. My mom has seen a lot of things and been a lot of places, but my dad hasn't been able to yet. My dad is set on getting up to Estes park, which will be really fun.

Hello again, and welcome to the final (yes, I’m crying too) installment of Mike Heffler’s blog!

It is indeed my last (pending my passing of my classes) semester at CU-Boulder. How does one spend such a momentous semester, you might ask? Well, the answer is hard work mixed with hard fun. I was lucky enough to get Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays off from classes, which is unheard of for me. But, before you get too worried about me going skiing every day, remember that working hard is a hard habit to break.

With all of the things there are to do within the first few weeks of school, it is easy to let things slip between the cracks. I had so much to do the first few days of class that I already forgot about two assignments! Thankfully, my professors were very understanding. Even though this is my last semester, I still don’t seem to have this organization thing down. So, I thought it would be helpful to share some of my organization tips to make the beginning of the semester as stress free as possible!

Today, as a part of the Norlin Scholars welcome back event for the spring semester, I went with a group walking around Boulder, distributing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to the homeless.  It was a great start to the weekend.

There are certain things that deserve their own folklore, and there are certain things that do not. My buddies and I are members of an indoor soccer team known as Team Deep Threat. Team Deep Threat is something that is undeserving of lore.

This past weekend sure was a crazy one! It was a weekend of fun, excitement, gambling, laughter, dancing, and celebration. It consisted of three days, two nights, way too many activities to count, and forty sorority girls, all packed into the little town of Las Vegas.
