A Wager Between Friends
If you have made it to your fourth year here at CU you have most likely engaged in some sort of bet between peers during your time here. Some are for pride, some financial gain and some for….. well the picture below represents the other category. There is something that just makes watching the game with a group of friends a little more fun or scrutinizing over that last question on the exam a little less terrifying when in the back of your mind you can think about victory over your friends instead of the long day you just had or the threat of GPA destruction. Without a doubt friendly betting should stay within moderation and can get out of hand. However as long as both parties are responsible it can offer a source escape from long days of studying or a part time job. Past the moderate stress relief or despair that may be caused by these arbitrary bets it is also an excellent way for students to get together and make memories together with one another; after all who will forget the time your friend had to wax an eyebrow or go to glass with a fanny pack for a week. One of the down sides of having peers from such a wide variety of places is that it can sometimes be hard to break the ice however one of the advantages is there are no shortages of things to discuss. Inevitably these discussions turn into friendly wagers leading to climactic conclusions that are sure to be remembered down the road and hopefully reminisced about between alumni who have stayed friends through the years. After all the worst case scenario is you end up getting a cool hair cut just in time to hang out with your friends on those hot Colorado summer days like my friend in the photo above. The haircut will fade the memorize never will.
