Coming back to Boulder after Christmas break, when I was in Washington enjoying tons of fresh snow in the mountains, I was all ready for a good Colorado winter complete with good skiing (my favorite thing to do). However, I was surprised to find my first couple weeks back were filled with warm, almost "hot", weather; with temperatures reaching around 60 degrees. Instead of being able to do my favorite activity, I was able to do some of my second favorite activity, rock climbing.
I met up with a few of my friends on Saturday morning and we headed for a climbing spot none of us had been to before, near Eldorado Canyon. The hike up, because we were new to the area, ended up being about two and a half hours. Luckily, it was beautiful weather and we were able to enjoy the hike in tank tops and shorts...in January! When we finally reached our destinantion, we found beautiful walls with amazing views and were able to enjoy a great afternoon. But it is January, so when the sun went down we had to layer up to fight the cold and blowing wind. You never know what the weather will be like in Boulder, but whatever it is there is always a fun activity to accompany it.
