Soaking in the Boulder Scene

Sunday, April 28, 2013

This week was filled with opportunity for me to take advantage of the last few days of freedom before finals kick in! A few friends and I attended an advanced screening of Monster's Incorporated's prequel - Monster's University - on Tuesday night at the Century Boulder movie theater on 29th Street Mall. All we had to do to see the movie was arrive with our student ID cards! The best part, besides the fact it was free, was that the actual film does not come out until the end of June! The version we got to see was "99% done" as the producer said in a short interview before the film began. He also asked us not to say anything about the plot, but I WILL say it will be a great one to see in the theater! The plot is relative to the lives of anyone who has ever been in college, so definitely take the time to check it out in June. I posted a picture below from the night!

Saturday morning, my friends and I took a run down to the Boulder Farmer's Market on Pearl Street for a little breakfast and tent browsing! The Farmer's Market is open from the end of April until around November on Saturdays and Wednesdays. There is always a wide variety of product for sale, almost always from local farms and small businesses. My favorite stands are the tents with unique sauces and jellies for sale, but obviously I always stop by those with free samples as well! I posted a picture of the farmer’s market below.

Later that afternoon, a friend of mine from DU came up to visit for a hike! She needed to escape some of the stress building up from finals, so we took some time to get out and enjoy the sunshine! We ended up taking trail after trail for three hours, but never noticed our distance because the weather was just perfect. I am so glad that the great weather is now underway – everyone in Boulder is in a good mood when the sun is shining! I posted a picture of us below.

The week ahead holds many final banquets and celebration dinners – stay tuned and get outside as much as you can!
