Rocky Mountain Showdown

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

Welcome to my Blog! I want to begin by saying that I am absolutely in love with Colorado. There is no place better than Colorado and when you get here you will see what I am talking about. There is always something exciting going on whether it is going to a football game to cheer on the Buffs, going hiking (only 5 minutes away from campus!), going to a coffee shop on Pearl, attending a concert, eating pizza on the Hill.... well I could continue for a while. When you are making a decision on where to attend college some say you are making a decision for the next four years, but I like to tell people you are making a decision for life. You will become a Buff and trust me you won't want to ever change that!

This past weekend was the CU vs. CSU Rocky Mountain Showdown Football Game. For those of you out of state students this is the biggest game of the season since CSU is our in state rival school! It is played at Sports Authority Field in Denver where our NFL team the Denver Broncos play. Both universities bring buses and carloads of students to the game. My personal favorite part of the game is when CSU "runs/drags" their mascot Cam the Ram across the field after the 500 pound Raphie (our live buffalo mascot) takes the field. Just imagine it. Anyway this game is a blast. The sound of dueling cheers, bands, and teams fills the stadium. Unfortunately this year we lost to the CSU Rams but overall we have won 61 of the 81 games. I can’t wait for the all of the football games and other exciting things to come this year! Go BUFFS!!
