This semester, I decided to get an internship! When I made my schedule last year, I noticed that I only had one class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I thought that I could either waste my time by starting a new series on Netflix or do something productive with my time. I got an email from my sorority over Summer break from a former member who was working at a company in Louisville who was looking for some interns. I decided that this would be a good way to use my time. I went and interviewed and got the internship when I got back to Colorado for the school year. This has been a great way to get my foot in the door and give me something to do after class is over.
I go into the office for my internship on Monday and Wednesday with three other interns, but work outside the office throughout the week. I answer costumer service emails and am in charge of finding volunteers for a 5K series called The Ugly Sweater Run that is held throughout the country. This internship has been a great way for me to learn about working in the office and how to work with other people in different states and parts of the country. While many people think that getting an internship while in school may be overwhelming, it is really great experience. If your schedule permits it, and you have time throughout the week, I highly suggest looking into applying for one. A great way to do this is to find an internship through Career Services on campus. They can help find an intership and help you earn credits for this internship that can work towards your degree!
