The Grizzly Rose

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

This past Thursday night my sorority Gamma Phi Beta had a mixer with Theta Xi Fraternity. Basically a mixer is a night out event that is coordinated between the two houses. On Thursday night we all broke out the cowboy hats, boots, dresses, and plaid shirts to take buses to a country-dance club in Denver called The Grizzly Rose.

On the bus ride down to Denver we jammed to some Taylor Swift and other country artists. We had the entire floor to ourselves and had a blast trying to dance. Now for anyone who knows me I am the least coordinated person on the planet. Dancing is hard, especially line dancing where you have to somewhat know what you are doing. Luckily for me, I am pretty good at faking that I actually know what I am doing by just stomping obnoxiously on the dance floor. It was pretty hilarious seeing all the "frat guys" try and break out country moves especially since they are used to getting down to "whomp" music, as one of the guys quoted. A couple hours into the evening we all noticed the mechanical bull behind the dance floor and of course all had to take a try at it. Needless to say we all took turns competing against eachother until we had to get back on the bus home. On the way home the bus speakers wouldn't work so we took the opportunity to break out our karaoke skills and sang just about every song we could think of. Overall we all had a wonderful night and can't wait for our next mixer!!
