...by avoiding doing work for them! Yesterday I took a day to not focus on anything school related, rather to have as much fun as possible before the crunch time for final projects commences.
I had lunch with a friend at the Center for Community dining hall on campus before walking over to the basketball game. I love it when I can get swiped in, especially on a Saturday morning for the breakfast burrito bar line :) We played KU, one of my favorite teams to root for in the NCAA tournament, but yesterday, I was cheering 100% for my Buffaloes. My friends showed up to the game about two hours early to snag seats in the 5th row! That might be the closest I've sat at a basketball game in all my years at CU.
Luckily then for me, I made in on the big screen AND national television! My dad and best friend told me they saw me for a solid 7 seconds on ESPN2 and then we looked for ourselves on the screen during the game. During the fourth quarter, when all the tension was rising, might have been one of the most uniting moments of my college career. I looked around as everyone in the student section yelled, "I believe that we will win!" and raised their hands in a C for every free throw, sang the fight songs as loud as they could, drummed on the seats, etc. With the (literally) last second shot by Askia Booker to drain a three-pointer, I remember seeing the whole crowd rise to their feet and yell as we all rushed onto the court. Because I was near the front, I got pushed around and stepped on, but we all made it onto the court to scream and cheer for our Buffs. Our boys played extremely well, and if it comes down to choosing between KU and CU to win the NCAA tournament this year... I'm going to have to switch my bracket loyalties and root for my HOME TEAM! I posted a picture of me on the big screen below.
That night, to continue the fun, I attended Young Life's Holiday Party. We had dancing, cookie decorating, fondue, and an awesome photo booth set up. The photo booth is always a great place to pass time in between dance numbers, and because it was a formal affair, we all wanted pretty-looking pictures of ourselves to take home! It's always fun to bring people together just before finals start, and so last night was the perfect post-game event. I posted a picture from the photobooth below!
