Football Lovin'

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

Hi everyone!

Going to and watching football games were not things I really grew up with. Because of that, it was not something I was really interested in doing when I came to college.  As much as I hate to admit it, I didn’t go to a single football game last year.  Over this last summer, I started thinking about it.  I had passed up such a great opportunity to create memories and try something new! I made the decision that I was going to start taking advantage of the opportunity and start trying to get interested in football games.

When I made that decision, I took a risk, and I bought season tickets.  The first football game that I went to was the game against our instate rival, CSU.  It was held down in Denver, about 40 minutes away at Sports Authority Field, and it was actually so much fun! I did not anticipate liking it or enjoying the game, but I learned that I love being part of the student section and cheering on the team with my fellow buffs.  It made it an even better experience because we won! It definitely changed my perspective on football games.

The best part of the game for me is Ralphie Running.  Ralphie is our live female buffalo who runs down the field at the beginning of every game with the Ralphie Runners.  Ralphie Running is actually a varsity sport here at CU and to be a Ralphie Runner, you have to have a personal interview with Ralphie herself! At the beginning of each game, when the crowds are cheering loudly, Ralphie runs down the field and gets everyone really excited for the game! It is amazing to watch and the crowds go wild.  It is definitely a super fun start to each game!

Over the weekend, we played Charleston Southern University, and we won, 43-10! I went to the game with my friend Megan.  I have included a picture of us at the game.  It was such a beautiful day to be outside cheering on our team.  I am so happy that I branched out this year from my normal routine and tried something new.  It has definitely paid off, and I have started creating memories that will last a lifetime.  GO BUFFS!!
