I hope everyone had a happy and enjoyable Thanksgiving!
As of today, there are about two and a half weeks of school left, including finals. For most people, that means study, study, study…and then study some more. While studying will most definitely consume my next couple of weeks, I took this past weekend easy and headed up to the mountains to do a little bit of skiing.
In addition to being an incredible city, with phenomenal restaurants, weather, scenery, etc…, Boulder is very close to a huge selection of ski resorts. In just over a 2 hours drive, you can make it to Vail, Winter Park, Aspen and a ton of other great ski areas. My favorite ski resort, however, is the Eldora Mountain Resort, only a 30 minute drive from Boulder. It is not as expansive or recognized as the other ski resorts, but its proximity to Boulder makes it well worth a season pass. Today, I was able to leave Boulder at 11:30 in the morning and still get a quality day of skiing in. CU students can also catch the bus up to Eldora for free, with buses leaving every hour for the entire ski day.
Today at Eldora, the skiing was definitely not the best it has ever been. There were only 3 or 4 runs open and it was a little windy. I did, however, get some great early season practice in and I got to catch up with some high school friends. We even did a little tree skiing even though we weren’t supposed to. To round off my Sunday, the Broncos just beat the Chiefs for 1st place in our division. Not too shabby of a Sunday if you ask me.
Until next time,
