Favorite Classes of Freshman Year

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

As my first year of college is quickly coming to a close, I decided to let you know what my favorite classes that I took this year were. Being a freshman, it isn't easy knowing what types of classes you will be the most comfortable in or what subjects you will be interested in. My main tip is to just try out some classes to see if you like them. This is something to do especially if you are open-option like me. I took a political science class to see if I would be interested in that as my major. I realized that this wasn't the major for me, but now I don't have to wonder if I would have been good in that major because I tried this class out. You will also want to take your core classes so that you won't have to deal with them later in college.

I haven't  had a class that I really dreaded going to so far this year, but I definitely have a few that I really enjoyed. One of my favorite classes was my Intro to Dance and Culture. This class was in my dorm and only had 20 people in it. We learned about different cultures through the dances that they do and even had guest speakeres come in and teach us these dances. I also really enjoyed taking Intro. to Sociology. This subject was really interesting to me because I liked learning about the different behaviors of people and why they behaved that way. But my most unforgettable class that I took this year wasAfrican Dance. This class was also in my dorm but is offered on campus as well. We learned different dances from Ghana and even got to perform them at the end of this semester. I became very close with the people in my class and my teachers. Freshman year is a great time to explore classes that seem interesting to you!
