Back to Boulder

Tuesday, September 3, 2013

The Summer is finally over and school has started with a whirlwind. I drove to Boulder from my hometown in California with excitment for the new year. I moved into my sorority house for the second year and excitedly greeted all of my friends! I put my room together, and trust me that was not easy. While I'm packing up my stuff from home, I always forget that I have to fit everything into a small room that I have to share with another person and I always completely overpack. So after my I finished unpacking and got settled in to my new home, I got ready for the year.

This is my first year as an upper classman, and it is a very strange feeling being half way through college. I started this year like I have started every other year. After I got unpacked and settled, I looked up my classes and wrote down my schedule for each day and hung them on post-it's on my desk. My room is always a mess and I can never find anything, except for my classes on my desk. I went to the bookstore to find my books. A lot of my friends like to order their books from Amazon, but for me I like to do the old fashioned, go to the bookstore and search for my books. It puts me in the mindset of going back to school. I'm not sure what it is about it, but it makes me ready for the school year.

With only one week passed, I can tell I already like my classes. I am starting to take some of the classes for my major since I'm now a Junior, so everything that I am taking is something that I am very interested in. If I could offer one piece of advice to incoming freshmen, it would be to do your core classes early. I'm done with my core classes so I now get to focus on my major and my emphasis. This is great because all of the classes are important to me. They aren't easy so it's good to stay focused on my subject without having to take something that I wouldn't want to take this late in college. A lot of people I know still have a lot of core classes to take and I know that it is tough for them because they just want to be focusing on their major classes.

I'm so excited for this year and can't wait to see what my Junior year has in store for me!
