April (snow) Showers Bring May Flowers

Monday, April 15, 2013

Ahhh Springtime! Flowers are blooming, birds are chirping, and the sun is shining….well, in some places.  Welcome to springtime in the Rockies--- where the months are filled with more snow than some places get during the winter.

I’ve talked a little bit about the crazy Colorado weather before, but I don’t think any other season has as crazy of weather as the springtime. One day it can be 70 degrees, with tulips blooming, and the next day it can be nearly blizzard conditions. These past few weeks are  a perfect example of classic Colorado springtime weather.

At about 1pm today the entire campus got a text messages and emails and tweets saying that campus will be closed at 2pm.

An April snow day, in the middle of the day? I’ll take it!

This alert went out through the RAVE system, which notifies those that are signed up about everything from inclement weather to building closures. It’s a really great service to sign up for even before you come to campus and it will keep you safe and aware once you are here.

Well, wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying the first few days of spring! Hopefully your shoes are as soggy/filled with snow as mine are.
