Making the Dreaded Plans Already

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Time is flying! My parents called me today to tell me that they officially bought their tickets to come out for graduation. No turning back now, I guess! They also started talking about all of the things they wanted to do when they were out here. Let me tell you, they are trying to cram A LOT of stuff into three days! But that's only natural, seeing as it's my dad's second time out to Boulder and my mom's fifth. My mom has seen a lot of things and been a lot of places, but my dad hasn't been able to yet. My dad is set on getting up to Estes park, which will be really fun.

Last Semester :(

Monday, January 28, 2013

Hello again, and welcome to the final (yes, I’m crying too) installment of Mike Heffler’s blog!

It is indeed my last (pending my passing of my classes) semester at CU-Boulder. How does one spend such a momentous semester, you might ask? Well, the answer is hard work mixed with hard fun. I was lucky enough to get Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays off from classes, which is unheard of for me. But, before you get too worried about me going skiing every day, remember that working hard is a hard habit to break.

To Do: Get Organized

Sunday, January 27, 2013

With all of the things there are to do within the first few weeks of school, it is easy to let things slip between the cracks. I had so much to do the first few days of class that I already forgot about two assignments! Thankfully, my professors were very understanding. Even though this is my last semester, I still don’t seem to have this organization thing down. So, I thought it would be helpful to share some of my organization tips to make the beginning of the semester as stress free as possible!

Peanut Butter and Lovin

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Today, as a part of the Norlin Scholars welcome back event for the spring semester, I went with a group walking around Boulder, distributing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to the homeless.  It was a great start to the weekend.

Team Deep Threat

Saturday, January 26, 2013

There are certain things that deserve their own folklore, and there are certain things that do not. My buddies and I are members of an indoor soccer team known as Team Deep Threat. Team Deep Threat is something that is undeserving of lore.

Vegas baby!!

Friday, January 25, 2013

This past weekend sure was a crazy one! It was a weekend of fun, excitement, gambling, laughter, dancing, and celebration. It consisted of three days, two nights, way too many activities to count, and forty sorority girls, all packed into the little town of Las Vegas.

Hello, everyone! This last week felt sort of like break again - but I'm definitely not complaining!

First Weeks Back

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Hello again! I hope everyone had an amazing break, as well as a productive first week back! I can't believe that I'm back for my last semester here at the University of Colorado at Boulder. No, really, I'm speechless. All I can think is: I don't want to leave!

Back From Winter Break

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Coming back to school is always something that I look forward to. Break is always fun and relaxing, but after awhile I get tired of sitting around watching Gossip Girl and movies. I love seeing all of my friends in Boulder and moving back into the place that I know call home. Starting a new semester is always fun, but it can also be a little stressful. If you make a plan of what to do and when to do it, it becomes a lot easier. This is my plan for starting a new semester.

Syllabus Week

Monday, January 21, 2013

Just another beautiful, snowy afternoon on Norlin Quad.

Yes my friends, it’s that time again. That magical time when students are back from break and the Hill is once again bustling with life and excitement. Now don’t get me wrong, being a close-to-Boulder native I do enjoy the times when students go home and the Boulderites have the run of the town once again. The campus just has such a different feel once everyone leaves.

Broncos Football

Sunday, January 20, 2013

Today, as I sit down to watch the NFL conference championship games, I am absolutely miserable.  A week ago, I was at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, watching my beloved Denver Broncos blow a late-game lead against the Baltimore Ravens.  I will always bleed orange and blue, but the end to this season was especially tough for me as well as all of Bronco Nation.
