We’re excited that you have decided to attend CU Boulder!
You’re likely focused on wrapping things up—perhaps getting ready for high school graduation or finishing up the semester at your current school. But very soon you will begin looking toward fall and your arrival in Boulder. It’s an exciting time, but can also be a bit overwhelming.
In New Student & Family Programs, we are here to help you—and your family!—make the transition to CU Boulder as smooth and successful as possible. You might be wondering what your next steps should be. For right now, just continue being excited! The process starts in early May with the Online Experience and continues into the summer and through your first couple of weeks at CU Boulder.
New Student & Family Programs will be part of your on-campus support system throughout the summer and into the fall, so stay in touch and come to us with any of your questions! Whether you need to know more about placement tests, advising appointments, housing assignments or anything else, don’t hesitate to reach out. Call, email or chat online with one of our Journey Leaders—who are students, just like you. When you’re on campus, come visit us in the Regent Administrative Center. Most importantly, keep checking your email regularly; we will use that to communicate with you throughout the process.
Here are a few of the ways we will work with you this summer:
Online Experience. Worried about how you will choose and register for classes? How to talk with your advisor? Where to find helpful information about campus? The Online Experience will answer all of these questions for you and much more. This program is our online orientation which helps you learn what you need to know about the university on your own schedule and at your own pace.
In the Online Experience, you’ll complete a series of sessions to learn how to successfully navigate CU Boulder. As you work through each session—which covers enrolling in classes, advising, locating campus resources and more—you will unlock rewards, new content and your access to enroll in classes.
Optional New Student Welcome Days. The New Student Welcome Days are one-day programs that give you the opportunity to spend more time on campus, meet some of your fellow incoming students and families and connect with the campus resources that will be here for you during your time at CU Boulder. There is no cost to attend and each student may bring one guest to join in the experience.
We hope you will visit campus to get better idea of what to expect in the fall during one of our optional New Student Welcome Days this summer. There are two different dates you can choose to attend: July 14 and July 28.
Fall Welcome. In August, you’ll start seeing information about Fall Welcome events. These events are fun and great opportunity to meet other students while getting acclimated to life on campus. Fall Welcome will start during move-in and continue through the next two weeks.
Don’t forget to contact us if you have any questions while you’re getting ready to start your first semester at CU Boulder. We will continue to contact you throughout the summer, so be sure to check your email regularly. We’re here to help and excited to see you this summer!
