FY05 Benefit Rates (Effective July 1, 2004)
Effective July 1, 2004, the flat fringe benefit rates have been revised to include termination vacation and sick leave pay for certain exempt professionals, research faculty, clinical faculty and classified staff. These revisions are effective July 1, 2004. This change has been approved by the Department of Health and Human Services.
This new program will pay the vacation and/or sick leave termination costs where an employee is due a payout for accrued vacation and/or sick leave in accordance with existing University and/or State personnel rules. The vacation and/or sick leave termination costs for employees not covered by this program will continue to be charged directly to the FOPPS where their salaries are currently recorded. By incorporating a termination pay component into the flat benefit rates, sponsored projects and departments will avoid absorbing the cost of termination payouts for accrued vacation and sick leave. The current practice has historically created problems when the terminating employee earned the leave while working for a department or on a sponsored project other than the one from which he/she is currently paid.
