Accounting 101 training is full.

Due to an overwhelming response, the February dates are full. However, we will schedule another Accounting 101 training in the fall after year-end close. We signed up folks in the order received. Those who were not admitted will get first crack at the fall series. The class size limit is due to the small-group training style and personalized attention.

  • Are you responsible for your department’s business activities, but have never taken an accounting or bookkeeping class?
  • Do you wish someone would just show you the basics of accounting and what it’s all about?
  • Have you had an accounting or bookkeeping course, but it was so long ago that you would really like a good review?

 If you answered "Yes," then this is the class for you!

This course is targeted to departmental administrators who have accounting responsibilities but have never had formal accounting training, or to those who would just like a refresher. This class covers concepts like:

Asset, Liability and Owner’s Equity Debits and Credits
Revenue and Expense The Accounting Equation
Business Transactions Balance Sheet
Accrual vs. Cash Basis of Accounting Income Statement
Cost Principals How these concepts fit into the university environment

We know business doesn’t stop while you’re out of the office, so this class is presented in manageable two-hour “bites” over several days. This allows participants to learn, without spending too much time away from the desk. The information is cumulative, so plan on attending all sessions.

All sessions are on Wednesdays, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at the UMC, Room 247:
