Friends of WGST
The Friends of Women and Gender Studies are people who support the University of Colorado's Women and Gender Studies Program. Our "Friends" are important to us in these tight budget times to help us stay afloat and to celebrate the demonstrated leadership of women and men in the study of gender, race, ethnicity, class, abilities, sexuality, nation and global context in higher education at the University of Colorado. In November 2004, we celebrated our 30th Anniversary. As we look forward to the next 30 years, what better time to invest in Women and Gender Studies. Our Friends goals include:
• Supporting community involvement in Women and Gender Studies events that honor and empower women.
• Providing scholarships to students
• Fostering discussion of issues affecting women and men's lives.
Celebrate Women and Gender Studies by becoming a Friend to:
• Help organize and publicize a fundraising event.
• Make a tax-deductible annual donation.
• Volunteer to help us with any number of activities.
To make an annual donation, send your check made out to CU Foundation/Women and Gender Studies Program to:

Sustaining Women and Gender Studies Forever
If you would be interested in putting your name on an important area of academic development in the Women and Gender Studies Program, let us know. See the list below for all the various ways in which you can invest for the future and to keep the program viable.
A Named Scholarship for an Undergraduate Student to attend NWSA, $25,000
Why not fund a scholarship to inspire undergraduate women to develop themselves as successful leaders, activists and professionals. The grant will send two undergraduate students from CU-Boulder to the National Women's Studies Association (NWSA) Conference. The conference provides students with the opportunity to hear women's perspectives and theories on many topics, and to participate in discussions that affirm, challenge, and support women as serious and creative thinkers.
A Named Scholarship to fund a Women and Gender Studies Partner in Education Program, $25,000
Why not support a broad range of CU-Boulder Women and Gender Studies program activities such as: equipment in support of the Women and Gender Studies program, curricular aids, such as books for the reading library, videos for classes, CDs, etc., and subsidies to underwrite tickets or registration fees to broaden the audience of those who can attend events (i.e. those who cannot afford the fees.)
A Named Undergraduate Scholarship, $25,000
Why not set up a scholarship to assist adult-returning students, male students majoring in Women's Studies, or to a student who has made a substantial contribution to Women and Gender Studies related service in the Boulder/Denver community.
A Named Graduate Student Scholarship, $25,000
Why not fund a scholarship to a graduate student pursuing a MA or Ph.D. with an emphasis in women and gender studies or seeking a graduate certificate in Women's Studies.
A Named Distinguish Lecture Series, $100,000
Why not fund a preeminent lectureship in feminist studies, masculinity studies, or global feminisms?
A Named Visiting Assistant Professorship, $300,000
Why not fund a young scholar for an academic year to come to teach in Women and Gender Studies, do a colloquium on their research, and establish a life-long collaboration with our faculty and campus.
A Named Distinguished Visiting Professorship, $500,000
Why not provide funds to bring to the campus for a semester or an academic year, scholars and writers whose work is esteemed throughout the nation and who has been working interdisciplinary with one or more of the following areas: science, humanities, health, philosophy, religion, and technology.
A Named Endowed Chair in Women and Gender Studies, $1,500,000
Why not fund a distinguished chair in the field of Women and Gender Studies to ensure the sustainability of the program forever.
