
Here is just a sample of the multiple career paths that our majors have pursued. One thing's for sure is that the sky's the limits with a degree in women and gender studies.
Kate Black (2005) attended law school at University of Denver Sturm College of Law and now represents indigent death row inmates in state and federal court.
Stefanie Carroll (1999) married Jason Brookes in 2005. She received a Master of Non-Profit Management in Spring 2009.
Andra (Cooper) Chikova (2008) is the mother of a five year old daughter. She is also the co-chair and co-founder of the Annual Huntington’s Disease Walk in Denver. On top of all this she is the co-chair for the Greening effort of the Marriott Business Council.
Cynthia Cook (2000) has worked on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. and has a graduate degree in Political Sociology from the London School of Economics. She has recently been hired as a US Foreign Service Officer, specializing in Public Diplomacy and will move to the Middle East this fall.
Kelsey Draper (2008) is attending graduate school at the University of Cape Town in Cape Town, South Africa and studying for a Master's Degree in Social Anthropology. She is focusing her research on women, children, and poverty/development.
Liza Hensleigh (2005) is the Lead Study Abroad Advisor in the Office of International Education at the University of Colorado at Boulder. She recently co-presented at a conference on the topic of sexual assault response in the field of education abroad.
Beth Holimon (1994) opened “Bee Write” and “Executive Bee” for nonprofit consulting and grant writing. She has two sons and a wonderful husband. She has been busy in the last few years with projects in medical research, executive association management, and opening a charter school.
Heidi Petersen (1992) is self-employed in two enterprises, “Heidi’s Healings” and “Coming Home LLC”. She has been organizing and participating in a speaker series in Longmont called PsychicSpeak.
Michelle Richardson (2000) graduated from American University, Washington College of Law and studied civil rights and constitutional law. She is a counsel to the House Judiciary Committee Democratic Staff and has been lobbying for the ACLU on national security issues for three years.
Beth Schwarting has been working in freestanding birth centers around the world and has trained as a nurse midwife at the University of California San Francisco. She is now working as a midwife in Northern California.
