Regulations
- Export Administration Regulations. The EAR are administered by the Bureau of Industry Security (BIS) at the US Department of Commerce, and are relevant to “dual-use” technologies.
- International Traffic in Arms Regulations. The ITAR are administered by the Office of Defense Trade Controls at the US Department of Defense, and deal with military-related exports (including space-based research).
- U.S. Munitions List (ITAR). This lists provides detailed information about all the technologies that are included under the ITAR. This is provided primarily for reference, as the actual screening is usually done electronically.
- Office of Foreign Assets Controls regulations. OFAC is a unit of the US Department of Treasury that regulates embargoes with various countries and individuals. These embargoes may affect travel to or financial transactions with the embargoed entities.
