Training Requirement
All personnel conducting research with vertebrate animals must be appropriately qualified and trained before working with the species; the training includes IACUC basic training and hands-on training. The basic animal care and use training provided by the IACUC is required for anyone working with vertebrate animals in research and teaching. Hands-on training must be obtained through the individual investigator’s laboratory or through the animal facilities by appointment.
IACUC Training Schedule
A schedule of the training is sent out each month through a listserv to all investigators and key personnel. If you need a schedule of the training please contact Richard Husser, IACUC administrator at richard.husser@colorado.edu
The basic IACUC training session covers regulatory requirements for the care and use of vertebrate animals in field and lab research. The session lasts 1.5 hours.
Monthly IACUC Updates through the IACUC Listserv
The IACUC Administrator sends out a monthly email with the training schedule and updated protocol and addendum forms. All principal investigators with protocols and key personnel handling IACUC submissions or training should be on the listserv. If you need to be added to the IACUC listserv contact the IACUC Administrator: richard.husser@colorado.edu
