Animal-Borne Diseases

Researchers need to be aware that some animals carry diseases which can be transmitted to humans. Some of the common diseases and how infection can be prevented are discussed here.

  • Animal Pathogens. A brief survey of pathogens which can be transmitted to humans by infected wild-caught and domestic animals. Includes prescribed treatments.
  • Animal Allergies. An introduction to the causes of animal allergies and what can be done to minimize their effect.
  • Hantavirus (Sin Nombre Virus). An introduction to the characteristics, transmission, and diagnosis of Hantavirus.
  • Rabies. A rabies fact sheet from the World Health Organization.
