A number of the ARRA programs have institutional limitations on the number of proposals CU-Boulder may submit. For these grants, please describe your proposed project in 100-150 words using the appropriate link from the ARRA website (http://innovation.colorado.edu/arra/index.html), so that we can select the proposals that are the most likely to succeed and that will best further our campus priorities.
The Ellison Medical Foundation New Scholar Award in Aging for 2010

The Ellison Medical Foundation has invited CU-Boulder to nominate two candidates to apply for The Ellison Medical Foundation New Scholar Award in Aging for 2010. The Ellison Medical Foundation was established by Lawrence J. Ellison to support basic biological research on aging relevant to understanding lifespan development processes and age-related diseases and disabilities. Applications are accepted by invitation only.
An eligible candidate would be a new independent investigator of outstanding promise in basic biomedical research relevant to aging. The award is intended to provide new faculty with support during the especially critical first three years of an independent research career. Each award will be made for up to $100,000 per year, total costs, for a four-year period.
Since CU-Boulder will only be allowed to nominate two candidates for this award, it may be necessary to hold an internal competition to select our candidates. Therefore, internal candidates should use this online application to submit the following to the Vice Chancellor for Research by 5 pm, December 18, 2009:
- Brief (two-page) research plan
- Full CV
- Letter of support from department chair
- List of 3-5 external references from whom the candidate could solicit letters of support (DO NOT SOLICIT LETTERS at this stage)
This will allow time for the selection of nominees and for the nominees to complete and submit full applications by the external deadline.
The submission deadline to the Ellison Medical Foundation is February 25, 2010.
